Accolades, Honour as Elizade Varsity Student Emerges Queen Moremi of Ife

A 500 level student of Automotive Engineering in Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, Miss. Iyimide Shola-Shittu has won the 2018 edition of Queen Moremi Ajasoro competition organized by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi through one of his royal foundations, Queen Moremi International.
The contest which was a recreation of the legacy of the referred and legendary Queen Moremi Ajasoro had over 1,000 contestants, selected from Osun, Oyo, Ondo, Ekiti, Ogun, Kwara, Kogi and Lagos States. The competition was to enable young Yoruba ladies discover their cultural identity and imbibe decent moral.

 

Speaking at the presentation of the 2018 winner of the cultural competition at Ife Grand Resort, the highly referred king informed that Queen Moremi Ajasoro of Ife kingdom risked her life for the survival of Ife people during the incessant attacks on the kingdom by the Forest (Igbo) people.

Oba Adeyeye expressed dissatisfaction that Queen Moremi Ajasoro’s legacies have not been projected as central to the existence of the Yoruba Nation. He added that the Queen stood against crime, child trafficking and other unethical activities of the attackers of the Ife people.

The traditional ruler commended Elizade University for producing a student capable of leading other young ladies from higher institutions across the country. While describing the competition as mentally tasking, Oba Adeyeye stated that the emergence of the new Queen was on merit.
In her acceptance speech, the newly installed Queen appreciated the royal father for his determination to instill virtues in young Yoruba ladies.

She promised to use her position as the Queen Moremi Ajosoro 2018 to impart the lives of young women and children positively by organizing empowerment programs.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of N5M cash prize and a 2012 Corolla to the Queen.

By the virtue of her victory, Miss. Shola-Shittu has become the cultural ambassador to the Ooni for the next 12 months.
