Law students in ELizade University, Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State have been admonished to brace up for the demanding nature of the legal profession. They were also enjoined to see the profession as avenue to serve the humanity.

The former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Ondo State, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), gave the admonition at the inauguration of the Elizade University chapter of the Law Students Association of Nigeria (LAWSAN), where he was installed the Patron of the Association.

Speaking after his investiture, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria expressed the hope that the legal profession in Nigeria would be enhanced when lawyers trained in Elizade University are called to bar.

The legal icon, who described legal profession as a special call which is meant for people with sound mind, urged the students to make judicious use of the facilities in the Law Faculty.

Mr. Jegede commended the quality of the facilities in the Faculty, describing the Moot Court and the Law Library as world-class. He promised to serve as the Judge during the Faculty’s moot court trials. The former Attorney-General also promised to honour invitations by the Faculty to give talks on contemporary legal issues.

He urged members of the Executive council of the Association to carry their colleagues along in the administration of the Association.

Also speaking, the Registrar of the University, Mr. Omololu Adegbenro expressed the determination of the Management of the University to make the Law programme the best in the country. He said that the facilities provided in the Faculty and the pedigree of the faculty members were borne out of the readiness of the University to produce legal practitioners that would change the legal landscape in Nigeria.

The pioneer members of the Executive council of the Association include Okunomo Adebanji Benjamin (President), Ogundana Mokunfayo Boluwatife (Vice-President), Akintayo Temijope Israel (General Secretary), Atunrase Afolashade Aminat (Asst. General Secretary), Omiyerun Abiodun Ebimobowei (Public Relations Officer) and Wariegbe Blessing Tinnatei (Treasurer).

Others are  Oladiran Adekoya Alfred (Financial Secretary), Mekuleyi Oluwadolapo Michelle (Social Director I), Ademigoke Adesewa Precious (Social Director II), Paul Taiwo (Welfare Officer I), Oluwabiyi Oluwayimika Ayooluwa (Welfare Officer II) and Akintola Bisade Blessing (Principal Liaison Officer).
