Geospatial Scientist — Hazard & Risk Assessment
Dr Akinola Akinwumiju is a geospatial scientist and environmental researcher with over a decade of academic and post-doctoral experience applying Earth Observation, GIS, remote-sensing and computational modeling to hydrogeology, engineering, geoscience and climate hazard assessment across flood, landslide drought, coastal and groundwater risk.
He is the author of 50+ peer-reviewed publications (h-index: 19, 1000+ citations spanning 81 countries) and has held four international research grants, including the World Bank-sponsored Disaster Risk Reduction programme supporting ECOWAS.
A Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a Certified GIS Professional. He has led independent research programmes, supervised 3 PhD, 7 MSc and over 40 undergraduate projects and taught 13 modules across engineering, geoscience, hydrogeology, and geospatial technologies.
Currently a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Wolverhampton. He founded the GLOBE Research Group, training 600+ citizen scientists, and brings proven experience in data-driven, climate-resilient, infrastructure and environmental monitoring.
