The establishment of Elizade University in Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State has been described as a blessing to the ancient town, Ondo State and Nigeria in general.
The Alara of Ilara-Mokin, Oba Abiodun Aderemi Adefehinti revealed this when he received the Management team of the University in his palace. The traditional ruler explained that the social and economic fortunes of the town have changed since the University was established in the town.
He commended the Founder of the University, Chief Michael Ade.Ojo for siting the University in the town, saying that he could have sited the institution in Lagos or Abuja where he has the required landed property to do so.
While describing Chief Ade.Ojo as an illustrious and patriotic son of the town, the royal father called on other well-meaning Nigerians to take a cue from the automobile magnate by imparting their local communities and the country positively.
Oba Adefehinti also lauded the Management of the University for prioritizing discipline among the students of the institution. He affirmed that asserting discipline among the students would help the University achieve its vision of producing well-rounded graduates.
He welcomed the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Olukayode Amund who was just assuming office to Ilara-Mokin and Ondo State. The royal father described Ilara-Mokin as a peaceful town where the University could attain the height it craves.
Earlier in his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olukayode Amund had intimated Oba Adefehinti that his visit to him was to pay homage and to familiarize himself with the town and its indigenes.
The Vice-Chancellor solicited the continued support of the Ilara-Mokin traditional council for the University, adding that the community would continue to benefit from the farming-related inventions of the University.
