DON REITERATES ROLES OF MEDIA IN DISSEMINATING RESEARCH PRODUCTS . . . AS MEDIA BOSS LAUDS VARSITY

Managers of media organizations in Nigeria have been charged to use their respective media of communication to disseminate the research outputs of the nation’s universities and other higher institutions of learning for effective application by the industry and other segments of the country’s economy.

The Vice-Chancellor of Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State, Prof. Olukayode Amund gave the charge while playing host to members of the Management team of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Positive FM, Akure, who paid a courtesy call on him in his office.

Prof. Amund attributed the breakdown in the relationship between the Town and the Gown to lack of adequate information on the activities of the institutions. He opined that the immediate communities of Nigerian Universities would benefit immensely from their inventions if they were properly briefed by the media.

He lauded the Management of the Station for its interest in the University.

Speaking earlier, the General Manager of the radio station, Mr. Samson Tunde Abiodun commended the University for providing quality education for young Nigerians. He also lauded the Founder of the University, Chief Michael Ade.Ojo for his determination to enhance the education sector of the country’s economy. He stated that Chief Ade.Ojo’s other contributions to Ilara-Mokin community, such as the 18-hole Smokin Hills Golf Resort and the eight kilometer township roads have uplifted the economy of the town.

He sought the approval of the University Management to use the institution’s facilities for the Corporation’s South-West Zonal Content Summit.
