Universities in Nigeria have been urged to take a cue from the serenity and academic conduciveness of Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State so as to create an enabling environment for learning and research.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Olukayode Amund made the call while playing host to the Bishop of Owo Diocese, Methodist Church of Nigeria, Rt. Revd. Solomon Abayomi Adegbite who visited him to congratulate him on his appointment as the Vice-Chancellor of the University and to welcome him to Ondo State.

While emphasizing the impact of learning environment on the academic performance of students and research endeavour of members of the faculty, Prof. Amund enjoined staff and students of the University to make the most use of the opportunity afforded them by the natural environment and the modern facilities put in place by the University.

He thanked Revd. Solomon Adegbite and Owo Diocese of the Church for identifying with him. The Don promised to continue to fly the flag of Methodist Church as a worthy ambassador of the Church.

In his response, Revd. S. A. Adegbite congratulated Prof. Amund on his appointment as the Vice-Chancellor of the University. He described Prof. Amund’s appointment as the will of God for the University. The Bishop who expressed happiness at being the first person to visit Prof. Amund since his appointment as the Vice-Chancellor of the University, expressed confidence in his ability to take the University to a greater height.

The clergyman prayed for divine strength for the Vice-Chancellor to be able to pilot the affairs of the University.
