Welcome to Library Department

The University Library was established along with the University in 2013 to support the teaching, learning, and research activities of the University's faculty, staff and students with relevant and current information resources and services. The Main Library is temporarily situated within the academic complex of the campus on the 2nd floor with a space area of 610.05sqm, and a sitting capacity of about 242 readers at a time. The University Library that is managed under the able leadership of the Library Coordinator Mr. Idowu Adegbilero-Iwari, has continued to fulfill its mandate of rendering effective service in the areas of supporting teaching, learning and research. With a team of qualified professional, support and technical staff and world class library facilities, the University Library provides resourceful and user-oriented services to its community with the aim of becoming a leading modern academic library among its peers. The branch libraries are located in the various faculties and managed by experienced staff. The total current collection of monographs and books stand at about 13,000 volumes, while the current and backfiles of the journal collection contain about 1,000 titles. The Library has been able to actively subscribe to a large array of e-journals and online databases including EBSCO, JSTOR, ProQuest, TEEAL and so on. The three reading rooms which are currently available in the University Library are comfortably furnished, air-conditioned and adequately supervised to give users maximum comfort. 24/7 internet service is guaranteed by strong network signals from the ICT Unit of the University. Our Mission It will support the vision of the University to produce reliant, ethics-conscious, and globally competitive graduates with modern information resources and services. The University Library will be a vital, technologically advanced center of learning and exploration for students, faculty and the entire community. It will be supported by competent and creative staff, who will be respected and supported by the community which they serve, to facilitate users’ access to appropriate and current resources and services. 1 Newspaper and Magazine Service The university Library currently subscribes to two national newspapers which are freely available on a daily basis in the Main Library. Back issues of these newspapers and magazines are also available to library users on request. Learn More
2 Training and Capacity Building Training and capacity building through seminars, workshops and other fora is carried out by the scholarly communication office. This Unit is also involved in outreach and promotion of research and development in the library and university at large. Learn More
3 Photocopying, Scanning and Printing Services Photocopying, Scanning and Printing services are available at subsidize rates. Learn More
4 Faculty of Law Library The Law Library is a specialized Library that serves both the legal and general information needs of law students and faculty. The library came into existence in 2017 upon approval to start the Law programme in the University by the Nigerian Council of Legal Education. The well-stocked Library played a significant role in achieving the feat. It contains law books across all the aspects of law with running subscription to major legal databases. 5 User Education/ Information Literacy To create more awareness of available library resources and services and encourage effective use of the library at an early stage of the students' academic experience. Professional librarian teach a library course (GST 109) to all undergraduate students in their first year during the first semester. 6 Research, Publications and Indexing Services Research, publications and indexing services are offered by the University Library on consultancy basis. Learn More
7 Bindery Services A mini Bindery Unit is established to take care of frayed print documents and the binding of the final year projects. Learn More
8 Reference Service Reference services include library orientation, current awareness service, and selective dissemination of information and most significantly Ask a Librarian. The essence of library service is to bring the library closer to the users by offering services with a personal touch. 9 Reserved Services Materials that are rare, costly or in high demand, may be placed on hold by the Circulation Unit for any prospective user who indicates interest. Learn More
10 E-Library Service The Library, like the entire campus, is connected to high speed internet broadband through both cable and Wi-Fi. This is accessible to all the users in the Library. This has made it possible for the Library to offer seamless E-Library services from the array of electronic resources it curated and databases it subscribed to. The e-resources are available 24/7 on users' personal devices. However, the Library also has computer systems in the two Virtual Library rooms on the ground floor that are Internet-ready and can be used at no direct cost to the library user. Learn More
11 Inter-Library Cooperation The University Library cooperates with other universities to support information users, esppecially through Referral Services and Inter-library Loans. All that is needed is evidence that the prospective user is a bona fide user of his or her home library. The library is also the founding member of cooperating libraries for E-resources (COOLFER), consortium of libraries that ehances access to multiple databases of e-resources at low cost. Learn More
12 Faculty Libraries The faculty Libraries are established to provide faster access to information within the short distances of their Faculties by students and faculty. The Faculty Libraries are well stocked with information resources such as textbooks, journals and modern ICT resources as well as wireless Internet coverage for conducive reading experience. The aim of the Faculty Libraries is to supplement what is available in the Main Library. qualified and experienced library personnel are also in charge of the Faculty Libraries. 13 Loans The library loans out information resources that are usually kept in the general reading room like: Textbooks, Pamphlets and Monographs. the following policy runs thus: students can only loan two (2) books at a time for the periods of Two (2) weeks. while Staff can only loan Four (4) books at a time for Four (4) weeks duration. Then the charges on default (overdue Charges) is ₦50 Per day for both staff and students. Books that are on loan must be returned or renewed on/before the due date and in good condition too.
