The Department offers a Mass Communication. Students can specialise in their third year in Prints, Broadcast, New Media, Public Relations and Advertising

The philosophy of the Mass Communication programme is to equip men and women with the intellectual capacity and skills to appreciate the need for shared understanding in a given situation and to source information and disseminate same skillfully to disparate audiences with a view to achieving specific educational, persuasive and entertainment goals and objectives in a way that promotes unity, harmony, efficiency, and all-round societal development.

The objectives of Bachelor's degree programme in Mass Communication are as follow: i. To offer undergraduates professionally oriented programmes to aspiring communicators, journalists, broadcasters, public relations, advertising and marketing practitioners. ii. To train and retrain media practitioners for leadership positions in mass madia and other organisations in all sectors of the Nigerian economy and other parts of the world. iii. To develop the human capital that can raise and sustain the professional status of the communication profession in Nigeria and worldwide. iv. To provide mass communication students with the opportunity to masses that transcend all disciplines through publications, campaigns, public speeches, prints and electronic media.. v. To produce professional communicators that would be skillful, knowledgeable and competent in the use and application of modern technology such as hard and software computing, internet, social media. vi. To produce graduates who have the intellectual capacity and entreprenuerial skills to establish and manage theri own newspapers, magazines, public relations, advertising and marketing agencies and to establish radio/TV stations.
