My goal is to develop integrative research that merges genomics, morphology, and ecological data to address key questions in evolutionary biology. I have  interest in exploring the evolution of sperm morphology and sperm competition; avian population genetics and evolutionary dynamics; the interplay between gut microbiota and geography; the diversity and distribution of blood parasites in avian hosts; species-specific composition and concentration of avian preen oil and chemistry; the DNA barcoding of birds, and whole-genome sequencing of flagship bird species in Nigeria.
I have long term and ongoing research projects on the evolution of sperm morphology and sperm competition and its implications for post-copulatory sexual selection in birds. Parallel to this, is the project on the DNA barcoding of West African and sub-Saharan African birds, leveraging molecular data and genomic tools to highlight some enigmatic taxonomic clusters that require further study of species delimitation, conservation, and biogeography. And the patterns of genetic diversity and gene flow among colonial breeding birds in Nigeria.
