Elizade University Inducts 8th Set of Engineering Graduates into the Nigerian Society of Engineers

Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State, has inducted its eighth set of Engineering graduates into the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), marking another milestone in the institution’s sustained drive toward producing technically sound and ethically grounded professionals.

The ceremony, held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the University’s Faculty of Law Auditorium, attracted dignitaries from the academic and engineering communities, parents, and friends of the graduates who gathered to celebrate the occasion.

In his address, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Engr. Prof. Sunday Babatunde Adeyemo, FNSE, FNIMechE, JP, congratulated the inductees on their remarkable achievements, describing the day as the culmination of years of discipline, hard work, and perseverance.

Prof. Adeyemo commended the Founder of the University, Chief Michael Ade.Ojo, for his enduring vision and philanthropy, which, he said, continue to shape the institution’s growth and its quest for excellence. “Engineering is more than a career; it is a calling to create, to solve problems, and to improve the quality of human life,” he noted.

He charged the graduates to uphold professional ethics, innovate with integrity, and place humanity at the centre of their practice, reminding them that the engineering profession carries a weight of responsibility that extends beyond technical expertise.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed Elizade University’s mission “to produce graduates who are well-rounded, innovative, and globally competitive,” while expressing appreciation to the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) for their consistent roles in upholding standards in engineering education and practice.

The Guest Lecturer, Professor Sesan Ayodeji, FNSE of the Department of Industrial and Production Engineering, Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) delivered a paper titled, Engineering, Your Future: Navigating the Transition from University to Industry with Purpose and Passion. He said the graduands are transiting from a predictable divide to a dynamic world where they are bound to meet with surprises which call for creativity, innovation and resilience. He affirmed the need for them to possess core values rooted in discipline and integrity. He said for them to achieve breakthroughs, they must constantly look out for and identify bottlenecks as precursor to providing solution in their onwards strides, because theirs is not just a career but a calling to constantly provide solution. Â

In his remarks, the Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Environmental Sciences, Engr. Prof. Dare Adetan, FNSE, described the induction as “a proud and defining moment for the Faculty and the University community.” He observed that the ceremony marked the beginning of the graduates’ professional journey into the engineering world, where competence, character, and creativity must work hand in hand.

“Engineering, at its core, is about problem-solving and nation-building. Every technological advancement begins with the imagination and precision of an engineer,” he said. Prof. Adetan urged the new engineers to remain lifelong learners and to contribute meaningfully to the development of the country, emphasizing that “the NSE badge is not merely a title; it is a lifelong commitment to excellence and service.”

The Dean expressed appreciation to the Founder, Chief Ade.Ojo, for providing the vision and infrastructure that have made Elizade University’s engineering programmes competitive at global level. He also commended the University Management for its unwavering support and the staff of the Faculty for their dedication to student training and mentorship.

Delivering his goodwill message, the Chairman, Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Ondo State Branch, Engr. Oluwaseun Adeyeye, FNSE, FNICE, congratulated the new inductees and admonished them to uphold the highest standards of integrity, competence, and professionalism in their careers.

He emphasized the need for continuous learning, collaboration, and innovation in the face of the ever-evolving challenges confronting the engineering profession. “Remain committed to excellence, uphold integrity, and strive to make a positive impact in your communities and the world at large,” he said.
