About Biotechnology
The Biotechnology programme is designed to promote sustainable development with attraction towards food productivity and security, modern practices in health delivery and liveable environment for meaningful development. Graduates of this programme will have excellent career opportunities in diversified areas of specialization such as forensic science, genetic counselling, diagnoses of genetic disorder and infectious diseases, gene therapy, new drug discoveries, environmental monitoring and pollution control, genes for pest resistance or tolerance in plants, tissue culture, biofuel plant design, patent and Intellectual property right, biosafety and ethical issues etc. The focus of the programme is on general biotechnology and its associated fields of bioinformatics, natural products and active pharmaceutical ingredients, molecular biotechnology and fermentation technology.
Philosophy
To promote biotechnology for sustainable development with attraction towards food productivity and security, modern practices in health delivery and liveable environment for meaningful development.
Aim and Objective
We shall fully deploy the state-of-the-art facilities to achieve: 1. A functional and resourceful mind that integrates interdisciplinary approach to investigating and analysing scientific evidence 2. Acquisition of scientific skills which are readily deployed in investigating, analysing and understanding the environment 3. Imbibing the right ethical standards in the practice of science.
Admission Requirement
